Finland Nationals 1999

Rullaniemi, Espoo 21.-22.8.1999

Report and results by Pietari Visanti

Two days of sunshine and very tricky northern winds resulted into that almost same order as usual.
First day was sailed in shifty, gusty, light, windy and windless conditions. 1st race had all of those. 2nd race had to be shortened in half because there was no wind. 3rd race was sailed in mainly very windy conditions. Second day was almost unpredictable as the first.

Finnish nationals were also a memorial race of Esko Toiviainen, a mentor of finnish OK-sailing, who introduced the OK to many of the past and current OK-sailors. He was also one of the oldest sailors to compete in any dinghyclass in Finland. In his last appearance at the 1990 nationals he was 75 years old.
